About

I have taught German for more than eight years, first to regular schoolchildren in Berlin and since I am in France I have taught it to learners from all over the world in private 1o1 or 1 to many lessons and not the least for more than three years to my constantly growing audience on YouTube.

Learning a language consists of different parts, there are lots of good teachers and valuable course materials out there that teach you grammar such as declension or conjugation and some also offer speaking practice.

What I found over the years is that there is no easy and fun way to learn vocabulary. Learners either sit with their books and learn the vocabulary according to the lesson they’re about to learn or on the Internet they try out one of the free or paid services that let them create flashcards. Certainly, you will be able to build on your vocabulary either way but it’s not fun to the most of us and a rather tedious process.

Even my advanced students are often looking for a better adjective to use than simply gross or klein to give just two examples. German as a language is very nuanced and you might want to express the idea of riesig or gewaltig or winzig or schmächtig instead of only big or small. But what is the difference between each of the two pairs? The answer is you need context!

This is why I created Deutsch Sprechen.

Deutsch Sprechen is the most comprehensive way to build a rich vocabulary as it teaches you the vocabulary in context using the proven method of mindmapping.

Each category of words is colored in a specific color, so even if you don’t want to deal with grammar aspects you will simply recognize that nouns are green, verbs are red and adjectives are blue for instance.

Deutsch Sprechen is level agnostic which means learners can subscribe to the programme at any particular point in their learning process. My programme is especially designed for the adult learner. You will not learn sentences like “The little dog plays with a red ball” but modern German that is adapted to the adult learner’s daily routine and professional life.

The individual words to learn are presented individually as well as in different sample sentences or sayings. This method allows the learner to understand the nuances and different meanings of each individual word. Using the mindmapping principle you will be referred to new words and thus able to dig as deep into Deutsch Sprechen as you wish.
In parts Deutsch Sprechen will be free and open to everyone as I know that I have many students around the world that can either not afford paid content or simply don’t have the infrastructure to pay online yet. This way, everybody can use my system (in parts) for free.

The other part of the Deutsch Sprechen content is premium content which mean that learners can subscribe to it for a small annual fee.

The Deutsch Sprechen system to learn vocabulary is constantly growing as we’re always adding new topics and vocabulary.

I will also use everything I have learned about video from Deutsch Happen and enhance the Deutsch Sprechen content by additional videos.

I’m planning to launch Deutsch Sprechen at the beginning of December 2011, so you don’t have to wait for long anymore.

Everybody who’ll subscribe to Deutsch Sprechen today until the day before launch gets the full course for $12 per year.

After this pre-launch period the price will go up to $24 and increase gradually according to how much new content will be added over time.

Deutsch Happen is not affected by that. Its content is free and will be free in the future!
To all of you who are happy with my teaching at Deutsch Happen but who want to have this little extra boost for your vocabulary, Deutsch Sprechen I believe is the right thing for you. And let’s face it, $12 per year is $1 per month invested in learning a new language which is an investment in yourselves!
